Yoga in Northern Virginia

Assist in the transition into wheel

As I’ve explained elsewhere, yoga studios in Northern Virginia lie on the other side of the Potomac River, which is like the same as NYC or LA or Mysore. I don’t get there to practice so I have no first-hand information on the studios, except what friends have told me. However, I can’t really claim to have a DC-area directory if I do not include more VA centers so I am making an effort to expand the listing (but it’s a big space).

Northern Virginia yoga studios have their own yoga week, usually in June.

Fairfax

  • Sun and Moon Studio – A yoga center in Fairfax, VA. Plenty of articles and other resources on the site. Teacher training – 200, 150 and 150 hour programs with flexible format, which culminates in a 500-hour certification. Also in Arlington.
  • Zion Yoga Studio has morning and evening classes (yoga and meditation).

  • Little River Yoga: with studios in Arlington and Alexandria, “based on the theory and practice of Yoga following the lineage of Sri T. Krishnamacharya, teacher of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, B.K.S. Iyengar and T.K.V.Desikachar.”

  • Inner Power Yoga: in Potomac Falls, near Sterling, is run by Ursula Cox. Ashtanga and power vinyasa styles.  Teacher training: 200 hours

  • BE Yoga Yurt: “I now have a Yurt studio out here  teaching Hatha Yoga, Meditation, Living Yoga, Reiki, Yoga for Children with Special Needs and a whole lot of Kirtan! All of the money earned from our kirtans is donated to girls in India rescued from sex trafficking that I go visit and work with there in Kolkata.”
  • Flow Yoga in Leesburg (not to be confused with the Flow Yoga Center in DC) Teacher training.

    1. Actually, the NoVa branch studio was mentioned in the DC entry about Tranquil Space, but I failed to include it when I added a Northern Virginia page. That has been rectified. Thanks for calling my attention to this lapse.

  1. Add Inner Power Yoga in Sterling. Ursula Cox, owner, is an excellent teacher in Ashtanga and power styles, with a very strong alignment focus.

  2. Please add me in Herndon, VA. I teach Hatha Yoga, Chopra Center Yoga, Primordial Sound Meditation, Perfect Health Ayurvedic Lifestyle Course and Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultations.
