Linguistic crossed signals

Whenever I see Marichyasana I and Marichyasana III, I always said it in my mind are “Mariachi Asana,” betraying my predilection for Latin American culture. I’d say, “That’s interesting, must be because someone thinks the pose looks like a Mariachi guitar player with a big sombrero.” Obviously, I was not visualizing the pose when I was thinking this because it bears no such resemblance whatsoever.

But Marichyasana really means “Pose Dedicated to the Sage Marichi” and has nothing to do with the Mexican muscial genre.
